The characteristic of Pingxiu is single needle and single thread, stitches spreading out side by side with regularity and filling up the outline of patterns.

The flat embroidery is the technique of developing the most common and the most basic among the Miao. The embroiderers Miao cut out templates paper cut and stick on the clothing to embroider. A ground is completed when the colored wires are clamped on the garment and completely fill the pattern. The characteristics of the flat embroidery lies in its achievement with a single needle and a single thread, the points aligning with regularity and filling in the outline of the pattern.
